CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will begin replacing the bridge on Pinkston River Road over Buffalo Creek in Wadesboro beginning Monday, August 6, weather permitting.
Contractor Smith-Rowe LLC was awarded the $542,000 contract to replace the existing bridge, build up the shoulders on the roadway, and install guardrail. Bridgework is scheduled to be completed Dec. 21, while reforestation and vegetation work will continue through June 19, 2013.
Due to the low traffic volume in the area, there will not be a posted detour for motorists. Pinkston River Road will be closed between Dunlap Road and Buffalo Creek Road, but will be accessible to local traffic.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
