I-26 Off-ramps to U.S. 64 in Henderson County to Close Overnight Starting Tomorrow for Bridge Preservation Work Tuesday, July 10, 2012

RALEIGH — Beginning Wednesday, July 11, the N.C. Department of Transportation will be performing bridge preservation work on the U.S. 64 bridge over Interstate 26 in Henderson County.

During the work, overnight closures will be in place on the I-26 off-ramps to U.S. 64 (Exit 49) from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights, with the final closure taking place overnight on Thursday, July 19.

During the closures:

  • The I-26 East off-ramp at Exit 49A to U.S. 64 East will be closed. Motorists on I-26 East will be detoured to Exit 49B to U.S. 64 East.
  • The I-26 West off-ramp at Exit 49B to U.S. 64 West will be closed. Motorists on I-26 West will be detoured to Exit 49A to U.S. 64 West.

The work is part of a $2.4 million contract to preserve 10 bridges on or over I-26 in Henderson and Polk counties. The project contractor is Taylor and Murphy Construction.
