Statement from NCDOT regarding Monroe Bypass court decision Friday, June 29, 2012

RALEIGH - NCDOT is disappointed that the 4th Circuit will not have the opportunity to rehear this case. But weeks ago N.C. Turnpike Authority (NCTA) began an active review of all issues the panel raised in their opinion. We will continue this work to determine what, if any, additional environmental study might be necessary.  While we are reviewing this data, we will engage appropriate experts. Until we have completed this process, we are suspending most work on this project.

All technical information regarding this project is available for public review at http://www.ncdot.gov/projects/monroeconnector/.  Property owners who have questions should contact their Right of Way Agent directly or call (704) 893-0131 or email monroerightofway@ncdot.gov.

The Monroe Bypass is a new toll road that will run 19.7 miles from U.S. 74 at I-485 in eastern Mecklenburg County bypassing Monroe to U.S. 74 near the Town of Marshville in Union County.
