RALEIGH — The existing right lane of N.C. 540 West as traffic exits onto N.C. 55 will be shifted to the inside shoulder beginning Tuesday, June 19 for one week as the contractor for the Western Wake Freeway repairs an existing section of pavement on N.C. 540.
In addition, on Monday, June 18 from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., two of three lanes on N.C. 540 West will be closed as crews place barrier rail for the traffic shift.
Once the repair work is complete traffic will be shifted back into its original alignment.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
