NCDOT to Close Holman Mill Road in Alamance County for Bridge Replacement Tuesday, May 22, 2012

RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of Holman Mill Road in Alamance County to replace the bridge over Cane Creek. The bridge is one of seven being replaced throughout the region as part of a $4.8 million bridge replacement project that began last April.

Holman Mill Road will be closed between Greensboro Chapel Hill Road and Griffin Road, beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, weather permitting, and will remain closed to traffic during construction, which is expected to be complete by Sept. 26.

Motorists should use the following signed detour:
  • Holman Mill Road to Greensboro Chapel Hill Road to Snow Camp Road to Griffin Road back to Holman Mill Road.
The Holman Mill Road bridge over Cane Creek has been deemed functionally obsolete. This does not mean the bridge is unsafe, but that it no longer meets current design standards for width or load. The new bridge will be able to accommodate larger, heavier vehicles than the current bridge.
