RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge across the Cape Fear River between New Hanover and Brunswick counties beginning Sunday, May 6 at 5 p.m. until Monday, May 7 at 6 a.m.
Crews will continue to apply a coat of protective paint to the 43-year-old bridge.
Inbound traffic to Wilmington may follow a signed detour along U.S. 17/421 to U.S. 74 and cross the Isabel Holmes Bridge into downtown. Outbound travelers will take Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, then cross the Isabel Holmes Bridge to reach U.S. 17/421.
