The N.C. Governor’s Highway Safety Program will partner with the Raleigh Police Department to kick off May as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.
GHSP’s Assistant Director Don Nail will team up with the Raleigh Police Department and local law enforcement to declare the importance of motorcycle safety and the dangers surrounding today’s motorcyclist. In addition, Senior Officer Chad Penland from Cary Police Department Traffic Safety Team will share his story of how a motorist turned in front of him and caused a wreck that nearly cost him his life.
Motor officers will participate in a motorcycle skills competition over the next several days. The competition consists of intermediate and advanced courses that test the riders’ ability to maneuver their motorcycle.
