NCDOT to Repair Bridge on U.S. 70 in Carteret County Friday, April 13, 2012

RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation will repair the bridge on U.S. 70 over Gallant’s Channel in Beaufort beginning on Sunday, April 15, at 11 p.m., weather permitting.

Crews will close the bridge nightly Sunday through Thursday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. until Tuesday, May 1.

During the bridge repairs, crews will be working in the channel under the bridge, which will require U.S. 70 to be closed to traffic at the bridge site.

Motorists traveling from Morehead City should use the following signed detour:

  • U.S. 70 to Howard Boulevard to Railroad Boulevard to Main Street to Orange Street to Mill Creek Road to Old Winberry Road to N.C. 101 back to U.S. 70.

Motorists traveling from Beaufort should use the following signed detour:

  • U.S. 70 to N.C. 101 to Winberry Road to Mill Creek Road to Main Street to Railroad Boulevard to Howard Boulevard back to U.S. 70.
