Reminder: Section of Salisbury Street in Kernersville to be Closed Starting Monday Friday, March 23, 2012

RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that a section of Salisbury Street over U.S. 421/Business 40 in Kernersville will be closed temporarily for construction work. On Monday, March 26, NCDOT will temporarily close Salisbury Street from just south of Forest Drive to just north of Hillcrest Street. This closure will remain in place throughout the duration of the $2.2 million project, which is scheduled to be complete by Aug. 30.
While the closure is in place, motorists can take the following signed detour routes to get where they need to go efficiently.

•    Traveling East on Salisbury Street: Take Union Cross Road; turn right onto Shields Road; turn left onto N.C. 66, which turns into Mountain Street; turn left onto South Main Street and follow it back to Salisbury Street.
•    Traveling West on Salisbury Street: Take South Main Street; turn right onto Mountain Street, which turns into N.C. 66; turn right onto Shields Road and follow it back to Salisbury Street.
NCDOT expects the closures to cause some traffic congestion. The department encourages motorists to plan ahead and allow plenty of time to reach their destinations safely.
