NCDOT to Replace Bridge on Sumrell Road in Pitt County Friday, March 16, 2012

RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation will replace the bridge on Sumrell Road over a Contentea Creek tributary near Ayden beginning on Monday, March 19, at 8 a.m., weather permitting.

The project, which will replace the bridge with a pipe allowing water to pass under the road, is scheduled to be complete on March 26.

During the bridge replacement Sumrell Road will be closed to traffic at the bridge site.

Motorists traveling east on Sumrell Road should use the following signed detour:

•    N.C. 102 East to Pleasant Plain Road back to Sumrell Road.

Motorists traveling west on Sumrell Road should use the following signed detour:

•    Pleasant Plain Road to N.C. 102 West back to Sumrell Road.
