RALEIGH — Transportation Secretary Gene Conti this week announced Teresa Hart, P.E. CPM as the new director of the Public Transportation Division. Hart begins her new duties on March 19 and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the division, which fosters the development of intercity, urban and rural public transportation in North Carolina.
“We are thrilled to say after a national search, which produced an outstanding pool of candidates, that Teresa’s broad knowledge, management and leadership skills make her the best candidate for the job,” said NCDOT Deputy Secretary for Transit Paul Morris. “Her experience in the areas of planning, programs and public service will be invaluable in helping the department support an economically sound and efficient public transportation system.”
Hart has worked for NCDOT more than 26 years serving as assistant branch manager, unit head and project planning engineer for the Project Development and Environmental Analysis Branch. She is a 1986 graduate of North Carolina State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. In addition, Hart is a registered Professional Engineer and a Certified Public Manager. A native of Havelock, Hart lives in Raleigh with her husband Michael. The couple has a son, Michael Jr.
