NCDOT Crews to Perform Additional Work on Bridges Friday, January 13, 2012

Work to take place in Gaston, Lincoln, Iredell and Catawba counties

RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation will close lanes under four bridges as crews perform additional maintenance repairs on bridges in Gaston, Catawba, Lincoln and Iredell counties. Under a supplemental agreement, Flame On, Inc. of Monroe, Wash. will perform additional work that may involve closing lanes under the bridges, weather permitting.

The first bridge scheduled for maintenance is located on Meacham Road over Interstate 40 in Iredell County near mile marker 149. That project began Thursday night and will continue tonight at 9 p.m., weather permitting. Flame On, Inc. crews will move on to the next bridge and so on until the project is completed. At last one lane will be open under the bridge at all times. However, should both lanes need to be closed, there will be time restrictions on the projects in Iredell, Catawba and Gaston counties.

The bridge maintenance projects are:

Bridge on eastbound Meacham Road over Interstate 40  in Iredell County near mile marker 149:

o   Take approximately three days;

o   Lanes cannot be closed or narrowed on I-40 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

o   Straighten beams as needed;

o   Repair any cracked welds; and

o   Touch up paint.

 ·         Bridge on westbound Meacham Road over I-40 in Iredell County near mile marker 149:

o   Take approximately two days;

o   Lanes cannot be closed or narrowed on I-40 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

o   Straighten beams as needed;

o   Repair any cracked welds; and

o   Touch up paint.

·         Bridge on Rock Barn Road over I-40 in Catawba County near mile marker 133:

o   Take approximately two days;

o   Lanes cannot be closed or narrowed on I-40 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

o   Straighten beams as needed;

o   Repair any cracked welds; and

o   Touch up paint.

·         Bridge on South Aspen Street over N.C. 150 in Lincoln County  south of Lincolnton:

o   Take approximately 4-5 days;

o   There are no time restrictions for possible lane closures or narrowing;

o   Straighten beams as needed;

o   Repair any cracked welds; and

o   Touch up paint.

·         Bridge on Aberdeen Boulevard over I-85 in Gaston County  near mile marker 21:

o   Take approximately two days;

o   Lanes cannot be closed or narrowed on I-85 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

o   Straighten beams as needed;

o   Repair any cracked welds; and

o   Touch up paint.
