This Week at NCDOT: First Lady Gets a REAL ID and Customer Survey Friday, February 09, 2018

RALEIGH – The following are highlights from this week at the N.C. Department of Transportation. The stories below are also featured in NCDOT Now, the department’s weekly newscast.

First Lady Gets REAL ID

Recently, First Lady Kristin Cooper applied for her REAL ID and the gold star that comes with it.

Understanding that the N.C. REAL ID will make things easier when boarding a plane or visiting a military base, First Lady Cooper recently visited the DMV office in Garner.

While there, she presented her necessary documents and shared why getting this ID is important.

“You may as well get it done now, particularly if your driver license is expiring. You can do it at any DMV office, it’s not going to cost any more than a regular driver license and once you do it it’s done for good,” said Cooper. “

To date, more than 300,000 REAL IDs have been issued. Those ready to get their gold star should visit
