Portion of U.S. 21 in Statesville to Close Temporarily for Girder Placement Wednesday, January 13, 2016

Road closed at I-40 overpass on Wednesday, Thursday nights

CHARLOTTE – As work continues on upgrades to the I-40/77 interchange in Statesville, crews will close a portion of U.S. 21 tonight and Thursday while girders are placed for the new I-40 overpass bridge.

U.S. 21 will be closed at the I-40 overpass from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night while girders are set. A girder is a bridge support beam. 

Detours will be in place for motorists using U.S. 21. Traffic on the north side of I-40 will be detoured to I-40 West, N.C. 115 to I-40 East, and then back to U.S. 21.Traffic on the south side of I-40 will be detoured to I-40 East, I-77 North, then around the loop ramp to I-40 West and back to U.S. 21.
