SHELBY – On Friday, July 25, the N.C. Department of Transportation will begin replacing a bridge over Conner Mill Branch in Haywood County. A portion of Pleasant Hill Road will be closed during construction.
Traffic will be detoured from Pleasant Hill Road to Western Carolina Boulevard, then to Main Street and back to Pleasant Hill Road. The road closure will remain in place through mid-December.
The existing bridge was built in 1960 and is considered functionally obsolete. Although the bridge is safe, it needs to be replaced in order to meet current and future traffic demands. Crews will replace the bridge with a culvert.
Mountain Creek Contractors, Inc. of Catawba is the contractor for the $383,880 project.
