RALEIGH – A North
Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) public meeting is planned for
Thursday, Dec. 6 on possible improvements for Glenwood Ave. (U.S. 70) in
Raleigh between east of I-540 and west of the Duraleigh Road/West Millbrook
Department is looking for ways to reduce overall congestion on Glenwood Avenue.
The plans for this four-mile stretch of roadway are in the early stages, with
alternatives being developed in part based on public input received at the
meeting. Those alternatives are expected to be presented to the public in a
second meeting next summer.

- Widening Glenwood Avenue by adding travel lanes;
- Providing additional turning lanes;
- Evaluating access and turning-movement updates;
- Optimizing traffic signals; and
- Bicycle and pedestrian updates.

Thursday’s meeting will be from 4 to 7
p.m. at the Raleigh Elks Lodge, 5538 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh. NCDOT
representatives will display maps and be available to answer questions and
receive comments. There will not be a formal presentation and individuals can
stop by anytime during the meeting.
NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and
