Outside Lane of I-85 South near U.S. 64 in Davidson County Closed after Tractor Trailer Overturns Wednesday, October 24, 2012

Estimated to take several hours to reopen lane

RALEIGH — The outside lane of I-85 South near U.S. 64 near Lexington is closed after a tractor trailer hauling fruit overturned around 11 a.m. today. Two lanes of I-85 South remain open to traffic.

The lane closure is causing some traffic delays on I-85 South approaching the crash site. The N.C. Department of Transportation urges motorists to take an alternative route, if possible, to avoid any congestion.

First responders are currently on the scene of the accident, working to move the tractor trailer out of the roadway and clean up any debris. This process is estimated to take several hours to complete.
